Achieving Goals
Setting goals is so dang easy. Reaching them, of course, is a whole other story. This week I reached a goal that I have had for three years. I am back to the weight I was when I graduated high school. Woohoo! College has been hard on my body, lets just put it that way. Stress, overeating, and [perceived] lack of time for exercise were all contributing factors to significant weight gain. oh, and BYU brownies. Those things are heaven and hell all wrapped up into one. Then I went to Argentina and hit my all time high as far as weight goes. This was a conscious decision. (If you have ever been to Argentina and tasted the food, you will understand why I decided to take three months off from watching what I ate.) So then I went to New Mexico and had all this time on my hands, and I picked up running again. OH MY GOSH how did I forget how much your mind and body are connected? I felt less stress, more joy, and more in control of myself and my thoughts and my desires. Especially the desire to eat everything in sight! Anyway, so I have been eating healthily and exercising and loving how great I feel about myself. And then I stepped on the scale at the gym the other day, and BOOM! High school weight! YES! It feels DANG good to reach goals you have been working towards. Of course, this was just my preliminary goal because when I graduated I was feeling overweight, so I still have 10 more pounds to go before I am satisfied. But now I know I can do it!
